Some people call it inspiration, stimulation, inducement, stimulus, and purpose.

Whatever words are used to describe it, it is the driving force behind all human life.

It is the reason for living.

Motivation has the power to help you accomplish your goals in life. It gives you that adrenaline rush to do things well.

Motivation will remove boredom and bring a zest for life. It has the power to turn failure stories into success stories.

No one should ever underestimate the power of motivation. It works on the subliminal level, in the unseen realm. But its effects can be seen in the natural, physical world.

There is a story of an African village boy who was told that he was a good-for-nothing boy. His own people told him that he would amount to nothing in life.

He was downfallen but then he met a mentor who encouraged and motivated him. The mentor told him that he could do anything in life if he would only believe in himself. 

As the days and years passed by, the no-good boy transformed into a successful and wealthy businessman. He became a well-known name in the construction industry. 

That, my friend, is the power of motivation.

Motivation has to do with the mind. It is a mind game. If you prepare your mind for something, it will become a reality in life. 

The Bible mentions in Proverbs 23.7, " As a man thinks in his heart, so he becomes."

It is very important that you have a motivational mindset before you start anything. That means you must prepare your mind for success before you begin any endeavor.

You require a motivational mindset if you want to taste success in life. It is absolutely needed when you go into any business or venture.

In fact, you need a motivation mindset for anything you want to do in life.

There are, however, several things that will try to demotivate you. Here are a few of those.

  • Fear 

Fear is the opposite of faith. Someone has described fear as False Evidence masquerading as Real. Never let fear stop you from doing what you want to do.

  • Negative experiences 

All people have some negative experiences in life that can act as limiting factors. With the power of motivation, you must overcome the influence of such experiences.

  • Past Failures 

Failures can take away your confidence. 

But remember that some of the most successful people had many failures in life before tasting real success.

  • Burnout 

Several times people experience burnout by doing the same thing for years on end. It becomes boring and mundane. This is a very big demotivating factor.

  • Low self-confidence 

Some people have low self-confidence due to various reasons. It reminds them of their limitations every time they want to do something.

  • Negative evaluation by authority figures 

This is a big one. Almost all of us are affected by this factor. We all have authority figures in our lives while growing up. 

The main authority figures are parents, teachers, spiritual leaders, and spouses. Many lives have negative effects because of negative or mean things spoken by these figures. 

Maybe the teacher has said to you that you will never amount to anything in life. Maybe a parent has said to you that you are so dumb. These words are like barbs in the soul. They take away all the strength from your life. 

  • Challenging circumstances 

All of us face some challenging situations in life every now and then. These situations have the potential to hurt us and demotivate us.

You can motivate yourself in several ways. You can listen to the stories of people who rose from the ashes to the heights of success.

You can watch motivational and inspirational videos to motivate yourself. Alternatively, you can read books that will encourage you.

But one of the best ways to motivate yourself is through self-motivation.

No matter what you see, hear or read about motivation, ultimately, you decide to motivate yourself. That is the most powerful way of motivation.

How can you motivate yourself again? 

The way to self-motivate is by reminding yourself of why you are doing what you are doing. Take stock of your life and find the purpose of your life.

What are you really passionate about? What do you want to accomplish in your life? How will the lives of your loved ones be blessed by what you are doing?

How can you leave behind a wonderful legacy? These questions and thoughts will spur you and motivate you. They will put a spring in your steps and a song on your lips.

Develop self-confidence and have a healthy self-image. Don't dwell in the past but rather look to the future.
Remind yourself that things are getting better and they will.
